HOUSTON - Two former members of a polygamist sect say authorities had every right to raid the group's west Texas compound last year.

Flora Jessop and Elissa Wall spoke in Houston Thursday at a seminar on child abuse.

The women say they were both sexually abused as children and forced into early teenage marriages by leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints.

In 1986, Jessop says she became the first female to escape the sect.

"I ran like hell and I was chased for five years across the United States," Jessop says.

Wall says she once considered FLDS leader Warren Jeffs "God on Earth."

But Wall eventually testified against Jeffs and helped send him to prison.
