WICHITA - A self-proclaimed minister who told police he ran a cult out of his home and had sex with girls there was sentenced Thursday to 82 months in prison.

Alfred R. Brown pleaded guilty April 20 to criminal sodomy and attempted criminal sodomy on a 15-year old girl at his home in the 300 block of North Yale between Jan. 1, 2007 and Feb. 5, 2007.

Brown, who has been in jail since Feb. 8, 2007, was sentenced by Sedgwick County District Judge David Kaufman.

Brown had been charged in 2007 with nine counts of sex crimes against two girls. At the time of some of his alleged crimes, Brown was under a low level of parole supervision and repeatedly tested positive for cocaine, according to records from the Kansas Department of Corrections.

A parole officer wrote in a log that he learned from police that Brown had admitted having sex with girls, taking them one by one into a bedroom.

In the log, the officer wrote that a detective told him Brown "really doesn't think there is anything wrong with this, because he is doing it for the Lord."
