Little Miss Precocious: The Cruises' designer daughter Suri, the three-year-old with a million-dollar wardrobe

At first glance, she looks like a typical little girl out shopping with her mother, from the vivid pink ballet shoes to the pretty bow detail on her stripy top.
Pause for a moment and look closely at the image, however, and a slow realisation dawns.
First, she is a strikingly pretty toddler, as you would expect given that her father is the Hollywood idol Tom Cruise and her mother the equally desired Katie Holmes.
Second, and rather more disturbingly, she is wearing lipstick. Of course, all little girls are fascinated by make-up, so perhaps this was a one-off treat for a child desperate to imitate her glamorous mother.
Yet Suri has been routinely wearing nail polish for well over a year now. Fast forward to another recent shopping trip and the lipstick has gone.
Instead, Suri completes her look with a pair of sparkling silver kitten heels.
Her mother, in contrast, dresses down in flat shoes and dowdy cardigans.
Given that at the age of 30 she already suffers from painful bunions, one might expect Katie to be cautious about her daughter's choice of footwear. Yesterday, Suri was shopping for ice cream at a market in Boston, this time in a pink cashmere cardigan and ruffled purple skirt.
When it comes to this young lady, there is only one person calling the shots, and that is the girl recently named 'Hollywood's Hottest Tot' by Forbes magazine.
Extraordinarily, a news report recently claimed that her designer wardrobe is worth a staggering £2million.

Having been born to such famous parents, she never had a chance of leading a normal life, particularly given her father's controversial dedication to the pseudoreligion of Scientology. But even by celebrity standards, Suri's parents are bringing her up in a manner which bucks convention to a startling degree.
This is at least partly due to the bizarre manner in which Scientology treats children; and given the prominent role the cult plays in her life - Cruise is the second most senior Scientologist - its impact cannot be underestimated.
This is a girl whose sole wish for her second birthday party was to 'wear a butterfly dress' - a childlike request which culminated in her ludicrously indulgent parents spending £60,000 on the event.

The birthday cake had four tiers and the centrepiece of the occasion was the release of hundreds of live butterflies - and all this for the grand total of 24 guests.
Having been born into a world where money is no issue, the usual boundaries which limit a toddler's life do not apply. So while most children her age have a cluttered bedroom to play in, Suri has an entire wing of her parents' Los Angeles mansion to herself, which she decorated with the help of an interior designer.
Her suite of rooms is fitted with a state-of-the-art music system and home cinema, while she has a personal chef on call at all times.
Suri has no official bedtime. On one recent Friday night, she stayed out for dinner with her parents until 1am, while earlier in the week her mother took her to a Beyoncé concert (though as soon as the music began, Suri covered her ears and buried her head to escape the bright lights).
'The Cruises are not what you would call a typical family,' says a source who has worked with Tom on his current film project, Wichita, which has seen the entire clan temporarily move to Boston.

'Suri seems to be tired a lot of the time and has a lot of tantrums, but it's not her fault. Nobody questions it because Tom is the big star and makes his own rules. But there's no way I would bring my daughter up that way.'
At the family meal last Friday night, observers say Suri spent the meal blowing raspberries and refusing to eat before life deciding she did not want to leave with the rest of the family.
Four days later, Suri went on a five-hour shopping spree with her mother and bodyguards, buying clothes and toys costing just under £6,000.
The shopping trip came to an abrupt end when Suri sat down on the pavement and refused to move - hardly surprising given the jetlag she must have had after flying in from a trip to Australia with her mother the week before.
On the face of it, this is typical behaviour from an over-tired infant. Yet the lifestyle which is leading to this exhaustion and cycle of tantrums raises the spectre of Scientology.
For Scientologists do not regard children in the same way as everybody else. After all, according to the so-called religion's founder, L. Ron Hubbard, the human body is nothing more than a vessel for a drifting alien spirits.
As such, children are not mere innocents. Rather, their bodies are the vessels for ancient 'Thetan' beings which have lived many previous lives.

Therefore there is no reason to treat children any differently from adults, even where punishment is concerned.
Especially important is the notion that children raised as Scientologists (infants such as Suri, who has already been signed up for the New Village Academy, a school that reportedly uses Scientology teaching methods) must be allowed to have 'self-determination'.
Many of those who have been brought up by Scientologist parents, only to escape later in life, have mourned the loss of their childhood, describing the indoctrination as being tantamount to child abuse.
Many Scientologist parents are also reluctant to allow their offspring to socialise with children who have not been raised according to Scientology's rigid directives - and it has been reported the Cruises are no different.
Even those who meet Suri at her two different dance classes in LA (she has already announced a desire to be an actress and dancer when she grows up) are never permitted to socialise with her out of hours.
Every week Suri's entourage, including her mother, wait for her outside the classroom and whisk her off immediately after the lesson.
'Suri knows all her parents' friends and what they do for a living, and doesn't call her parents Mummy and Daddy, she calls them Tom and Kate,' says a former colleague of the couple.
'Suri doesn't go to any regular play groups, but spends the vast majority of her time with adults. It breaks your heart to see her playing with her dolls, because all the role-play consists of Suri pretending to be her adult nanny.

'When Suri wants to go shopping, Katie jumps to it and follows her around buying whatever Suri wants. She helps Suri get changed half-a-dozen times every day and follows her daughter around like a glorified bag carrier. It looks like great fun for Suri.'
One explanation for this extraordinary arrangement may be found in the fact that many Scientologists believe Suri is the reincarnated spirit of L. Ron Hubbard himself.
Indeed, Andrew Morton wrote in his biography of Cruise that some 'fanatical' Scientologists believed Suri was actually the result of a sperm donation by Hubbard.
Yet the more likely explanation is more prosaic. Suri is Tom and Katie's first biological child (he has two adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman) and they can afford to spoil her rotten, so they do.
And for all her freedom, she is still expected to brush her teeth and eat well, like any much-loved child.
Nevertheless, she should enjoy the fun side of life as a celebrity tot while she can. As a Scientologist, from the age of six she will be subject to 'auditing' - a sinister pseudoscience which involves interrogating devotees about every aspect of their life while hooked up to a rudimentary lie detector.
Questions for children (there are 99 of them on the standard list) include: 'What has somebody told you not to tell?', 'Do you have a secret?' and 'Have you ever been a coward?'
Surely no amount of pampering can compensate for that.

The real tragedy here is less about Suri being "encouraged" to grow up too fast. In Scientology, if you're got money and influence(which Tom Cruise has), you get the very best treatment that the Cult can provide.
ReplyDeleteThe real tragedy is the number of children of less affluent members, who are being raised in the Cult by parents who are actively encouraged to put the welfare of Scientology above their own, and that of their children.
This is to say nothing of the young ones who, growing up in Scientology household, "educated" (and I use the term loosely) using Hubbard's "Study Technology" (a top-down learning system which emphasises the idea that if you don't understand something, it's *your* fault - This is exactly the attitude that Scientology likes to instil in its members) who enter Scientology's Sea Org as teenagers or younger (and are signed to a Billion Year Contract). They are the children who literally know nothing except Scientology: How can they escape? Answer: Not Easily

The daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has legally dropped her father's last name.
She is registered to vote in Pennsylvania as Suri Noelle, according to public documents obtained by CBC News.
Noelle, 20, lives in Pittsburgh, where she is attending Carnegie Mellon University.
The last name Noelle is an apparent tribute to her mother, the Dawson's Creek star who was born Katie Noelle Holmes.
Suri has been estranged from her father, Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise, since she was seven years old, according to TMZ.
Cruise and Holmes reached a divorce settlement in 2012. Celebrity news media at that time was overwhelmingly more sympathetic to Holmes, painting a picture of her as breaking free from a strange marriage that had been heavily influenced by the Church of Scientology.
At the time, the pair said they were committed to co-parenting, but since then, Holmes has largely raised their daughter by herself in New York City.
It's unclear when the name change occurred. Noelle turned 18 in April 2024, and her name was listed as Suri Noelle when she graduated from high school in 2024, according to Page Six.
She joins a list of children who have distanced themselves from their father, following their celebrity parents' high-profile divorce.
Five of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's children have now legally or publicly dropped Pitt from their surname.
In April, People magazine reported that the 20-year-old son of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline changed his Instagram handle from Sean Preston Federline to Sean P. Spears.

Why the news about Tom Cruise and daughter Suri is even worse than the media lets on

The feeding frenzy started Monday afternoon when the New York Post reported that Tom Cruise’s daughter had registered to vote in Pennsylvania (where she is currently a student at Carnegie Mellon University) under the legal name “Suri Noelle.”
She has been using that last name, which is based on the middle name of her mother, Katie Holmes, for a couple of years now, but the Post said that by registering to vote under that name, it was more than simply an affectation, it was Suri’s legal name.
The media coverage in the days since then has largely been very well done, as newspapers review the history of Tom and Katie’s split, and that Cruise has been out of Suri’s life for more than a decade.
But we just wanted to emphasize something that tends to get lost when these stories review the Scientology rules that are cited when it comes to Cruise cutting his own daughter out of his life.
We will never forget the long phone conversation we had with Mike Rinder more than ten years ago, when it was already becoming obvious that Tom had walked away from Suri. Mike was one of the highest-ranking Scientology executives ever to leave the organization, and losing him last year to cancer was one of the most difficult things we’ve experienced doing this work.
In the conversation, we went over with Mike the Scientology policies that govern a defection like Katie’s very public escape from her marriage with Cruise in 2012. It had caused a huge publicity disaster for Scientology and embarrassment for Cruise and his best friend, Scientology leader David Miscavige.
Normally, Mike explained, that would result in Katie being declared a “suppressive person,” which is how the Church of Scientology officially labels someone an enemy. All other Scientologists are required to distance themselves from anyone designated an “SP,” even if it’s a close family member.

If they don’t and they continue to have a relationship of some kind with an SP, they will be considered “PTS” for “potential trouble source,” and risk being declared an SP themselves.
ReplyDeleteSo, very early on as it became obvious that Cruise was no longer in Suri’s life, there was an assumption that Katie had been declared an SP for ditching Tom, and it made Suri PTS, and so Tom was staying away from both of them as the rules dictated.
But Mike said that it was important to keep something in mind. We simply don’t know, he pointed out, whether Miscavige had actually declared Katie an SP and we probably never would know that for sure.
What’s more important to consider, he said, was that as a celebrity, and in fact Scientology’s most important celebrity ever, Tom Cruise could ignore those rules if he wanted to. If Tom wanted to remain friends with Katie, and if he wanted to remain a father to Suri, Miscavige would not stand in his way, Mike said.
So, if that was the case, what was going on? And it was in that conversation that Mike made us realize just how bad this situation really was: Tom Cruise had chosen Scientology over his own daughter, even though he wasn’t required to by the church itself.
This is what we have told other journalists every time we are asked about the situation with Suri.
It’s so much worse than they tend to let on.
Tom Cruise once told his then-girlfriend Nazanin Boniadi, holding up his hand to demonstrate, that at the top was L. Ron Hubbard, the most important being who ever lived. He shifted his hand down a little to indicate that the second most important person of all time was David Miscavige. And then, just below those two was himself, Top Gun, the most famous Scientologist in the world.
He really, truly, believes that Scientology is the only thing that will salvage this planet.
And he abandoned his own daughter because he is that much of a miserable wanker.
As far as we can tell, Suri Noelle is doing just fine without him.

Evidence it was Tom Cruise Scientology erased from Clearwater ground-breaking photos

At its website, Scientology posted a slide show of images depicting church leader David Miscavige presiding over a ground-breaking in downtown Clearwater, Florida, for its future 3,130-seat auditorium, L. Ron Hubbard Hall.
(Scientology says it’s going to be a 3,500-seat auditorium, but the plans it submitted to the city say 3,130, so we’ll stick with that.)
The event was held on Saturday, August 1 at 9 in the evening, and as soon as we could see those photos, former London staffer Alex Barnes-Ross pointed out to us that he could see some very sloppy details that suggested some hurried photo-shopping had been going on.
Notice, for example, how the blue turf at their feet has somehow taken circular chunks out of the heads and fingers of some of the people in this front row, for example.
And Alex also pointed out how there was a lot of evidence suggesting that a very important person had been removed from a photo showing Miscavige himself top donor Trish Duggan. Someone seemed to have been standing on Trish’s right from this perspective who was now gone…
Who would Scientology have gone to the trouble of taking out of these photos?
Our suspicions immediately went to the church’s top celebrities, who may have asked not to be seen in photos shown to the public.
We thought of Tom Cruise first, of course, because Tom is not only such an important Scientology celebrity, but also because he’s been such a loyal companion to Miscavige.
Cruise showed up to last fall’s IAS gala at Scientology UK’s headquarters, and he was in the front row at the L. Ron Hubbard Birthday Event in Clearwater in March. How could someone that enthusiastic miss an event like this, which was clearly very important to Dave?
Well, Alex got back to us last night with some very interesting evidence which suggests that if celebrities were Photoshopped out of the ground-breaking photos, the number one suspect would be Cruise.
Alex keeps an eye on Cruise’s personal jet with flight software, and he found out that Cruise had flown his aircraft from Clearwater on July 28 to Aruba, where Scientology’s floating cathedral the Freewinds is docked.
And then, “The plane left the following day, arriving back in Clearwater on July 30 — just in time for LRH Hall ground-breaking.”
So, to review, we have three pieces of evidence that Tom Cruise was, in fact, at the ground-breaking ceremony.
— Cruise has been especially dedicated to Miscavige lately, showing up at the last two big Scientology events, in England and in Florida, with distance being no object.
— Evidence strongly suggests digital manipulation of the photos of the event, suggesting that a very important person was removed from a photo who was standing next to Scientology’s biggest donor, Trish Duggan. Only someone of the highest importance would be allowed to stand there.
— Flight software shows that Tom Cruise’s jet was in Clearwater in the days before the event, and specifically arrived just two days before the ground-breaking.

Tom is the Scientology poster child. Miscavige has raked in over $100 million in donations for the new Hall, and it would have been seen as vital for Cruise to be there. We saw it at the IAS event in the Fall, the chance to meet and take photos with the Scientology superstar is one of the tools Miscavige uses to continue extracting wealth from his followers. Both Mike Rinder and Mitch Brisker, who knew and worked with Tom Cruise intimately, have confirmed he is used as a pawn in the Miscavige fundraising game.
Tom’s priority is Scientology. His best mate Dave calls him up and says, “we need you to meet the mayor in East Grinstead” or “we’ve got a big event for the new LRH Hall” and Cruise drops everything and jumps on his plane to be there. Why would he choose his daughter Suri over the group he believes is mankind’s only hope? Especially when you compare the relationship he has with his other children.
I remember Bella from my time at London Org, where she was training to become an auditor. She and her brother Connor are model Scientologists, whereas Suri couldn’t make it clearer she wants nothing to do with it. Instead of unconditionally loving all of his children equally, his loyalty lies with Scientology — and he decided that the doctrine forbids him from staying connected with Suri due to her connection to her mother, who is deemed an enemy of the church.
It’s sad, but this is just one example of many where a family has been torn apart thanks to Scientology’s disconnection policy. What kind of parent chooses their religion over their own children? A Scientology parent, that’s who.
