Parole Board Issues No Contact Order for Utah Polygamist
August 1, 2007
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Utah polygamist set for release from prison is barred from seeing one of his former wives and their children under an order from the state's parole board.
The no contact order for Tom Green was issued today. Board spokesman Jim Hatch says the order comes at the woman's request.
The 59-year-old Green is set for release from prison Aug. 7.
In 2001, he was convicted of child rape for having sex at age 37 with a 13-year-old who became his first wife.
He was also convicted of four counts of bigamy and with criminal nonsupport for having used thousands in state welfare payments to support his 32 children.
Terms of the agreement also order Green to complete counseling, mental health therapy and pay the state more than $34,000 in restitution.
Green must register as a sex offender.
