Government warns minors against joining Mungiki sect

The government has reiterated that it will not tolerate the idea of minors joining proscribed sects such as Mungiki members.

Central province PC Jasper Rugut said that the provincial security team had received information that students in the province had joined the sect and even participated in the oathing process.

Rugut who was speaking during a prize giving ceremony at Nyeri primary school warned that the security team in the province would soon catch up with those recruiting school going children into the sect.

The PC promised the residents that the government would do everything possible to protect their lives and property.

The remarks by the PC come three weeks after police in the province gunned down some school going children who were among sect members who were taking an oath in a house in Murang'a.
