Hearing set in Sioux City murder case
Associated Press
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Woodbury County District Court for all motions pending in the murder case of Lawrence Harris Sr.
The Sioux City man is accused of killing his 8- and 10-year-old stepdaughters in January, then setting their house on fire to cover up the crime.
The Sioux City Journal reported in a copyright story on Sunday that prosecutors say Harris planned the killings as part of a spell or ritual from "The Satanic Bible." Defense attorneys want to stop prosecutors from referring to Satanism, the Church of Satan or other terms, saying they aren't relevant and could prejudice jurors.
Defense attorneys have also request Harris' trail be moved, claiming pretrial publicity. His trial is set for Oct. 14.
